Head Weight Loss Coach and Program Director
Ellen has always had the desire to help others achieve their goals. For over 20 years she fulfilled this desire as a non-profit organization executive and fund raiser. After her daughter started kindergarten, Ellen headed back into the workforce as an assistant in her husband’s chiropractic office. There she noticed first-hand the astounding number of people who were impacted by obesity.
It’s one thing to hear the statistic that two thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, and quite another to see it day in/day out. And as a person always fighting the battle of the bulge herself (sometimes winning and sometimes losing), she too was looking for answers.
Ellen is a very good dieter -- she has lost her weight several times over. Over the years, Ellen noticed that unless she was actively dieting, no matter what her activity level, she was gaining weight. She never understood why until late in the summer of 2011. At that time Ellen was once again trying to lose that weight she promised herself she would never regain…again! At the height of frustration with her lack of success and satisfaction on a calorie in/calorie out themed diet, she found Ideal Protein. On the Ideal Protein protocol Ellen learned about the role sugar, carbohydrates, and insulin play in weight loss and maintenance. For the first she time understood why she was gaining weight and how to take and keep it off.
With Ideal Protein, Ellen feels like she found the key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and wants to share this information and method with anyone who will listen. It is her passion to help others achieve maximum health through reaching and maintaining a healthy weight and body fat level. It would be her pleasure to coach you through your weight loss journey to better health.
Weight Loss Coach
When Fishkin Weight Loss Center was looking for another coach, we decided to look within our own ranks for a former dieter who rocked the program and had the attributes that would be most helpful to other dieters. We didn’t have to look too hard or think too long to find David Turner, “DT.” David is a former student affairs professional and certainly has the compassion and training to listen and understand what someone is saying (and even what they are not saying).
He is a detail-oriented person, who can really explain the diet, what works and what doesn’t, and why-- in a way you can understand. DT is currently enrolled in L’Academie de Cuisine. We look forward not only to what his coaching skills will mean for our dieters, but also to what his enhanced cooking skills might mean to enhanced Ideal Protein recipes.
Dr. Fishkin obtained a bachelor’s degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Stonybrook and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the New York Chiropractic College. In 2008 he completed a master’s in Public Health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
In his chiropractic practice, Dr. Fishkin often tests a treatment on himself before he’s satisfied that it will help others. That was also his approach with the Ideal Protein protocol. First he watched as his wife, Ellen, achieved success, and then he tried it himself. Once convinced of it’s safety and effectiveness he was eager to help his patients and his community using this weight loss program.
“While I will use every available technique and strategy to help my patients, there are issues associated with being overweight that are difficult to overcome with treatment alone. Those extra pounds take a toll on a person’s, bones, ligaments, and joints. I was thrilled to be able to point to IP as a weight loss solution. Now I have a plan to help people lose weight and feel better. The anti inflammatory properties of the IP diet is immediately helpful to many of my patients. Not only does weight loss reduce some of the stress on our bodies, but I have observed that the decreased inflammation just makes people feel better and experience less pain.
The fact that you’re visiting this website likely means you, or someone you care about, are probably overweight, and perhaps experiencing the adverse effects of obesity, or that your body is hurting and you are seeking relief and answers. It is our mission to help you improve your health and reach your ideal weight.”
Weight Loss Coach
David has been in the landscape and hardscape industry for over 25 years. He provides families with beauty and functionality in and around homes all over the metro/suburban D.C. area. David is a tall man at 6 foot 5 inches. Since leaving the athlete’s life behind in his high school years, David gained more and more weight with each passing year. By 2014 he was not just a tall man, but a big man weighing in at 331.5 lbs. In 2014 David’s doctor read him the riot act and David himself had enough of dealing with the aching joints, escalating blood pressure, interrupted sleep and other consequences of his excessive weight.
David came into our Ideal Protein Clinic in late July of 2014, and by the end of December 2014, reached his goal. Now, over 115 pounds lighter, David’s blood pressure is at a healthy level as is his BMI (Body Mass Index). His joints are much more comfortable and he is getting a quality night’s sleep each night. David found that this protocol can be successful even while working in a vigorous outdoor environment. He considers himself proof positive that the program works regardless of how physically demanding one’s job can be.
DeBow’s success and enthusiasm made him a logical candidate for the job as weight loss coach. The Fishkin Weight Loss Center and our Ideal Protein dieters are lucky to work with him. Now he can provide our dieters with the same beauty and functionality for themselves as he provides to others for their homes.
